Nothing like a rain delay

Posted by Sheryl Julian July 28, 2008 07:24 PM

While Sox fans ate extra dogs and sipped another beer or two to wait out the rain delay, I baked. The aromas filled the house while Manny soared.

These are tests from the upcoming "The Boston Globe Cookbook." Brownies are from Lisa Yockelson, a Food section contributor, who offered these cakey squares with fudgy centers (to die for). Then more chocolate: a zucchini cake made with unsweetened cocoa powder and studded with walnuts.

Some workmen are finally digging up our unsightly backyard and adding loam and plantings. I put out a tray of goodies and when they pulled in from the local Dunkin' Donuts with coffee and sweet things, they promptly discarded their coffee-break confections for a better offer.

  1. Thanks for asking! The book will be published in the Fall, that is, if I ever finish it!
