Our colleague Nicole Cammorata at boston.com is currently obsessed with cupcakes. "I have a cousin who is doing a cupcake display for her wedding in October in lieu of the traditional cake," she writes, "so I think I have cupcakes on the mind lately!" She saw this book at the checkout at Michael's.

When she flipped through it, she says, "some of the things in there are truly extraordinary and very, very cute. Vegetable gardens, penguins, turkeys, an entire rendition of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" -- and all made out of cupcakes."

Here's another fetching one you might make.

  1. I've seen this cookbook and it is very creative. The pictures make it easy to understand how to accomplish this yourself. Definitely would be a hit at parties.
