In response to a question from Matt Lauer on "Today" about the peanut butter salmonella scare, President Obama says, "I think that the FDA has not been able to catch some of these things as quickly as I expect them to catch, and so we're going to be doing a complete review of FDA operations. At bare minimum we should be able to count on our government keeping our kids safe when they eat peanut butter. That's what Sasha eats for lunch probably three times a week. I don't want to have to worry about whether she's going to get sick as a consequence of having her lunch."

Fast forward to 7:40 below to hear for yourself.

The Recipe Box Project:

If you want to contribute a recipe to The Recipe Box Project, please write it below. Also tell us where you got it (package box, cookbook, mom, friend -- include the name). We're looking for the kinds of dishes that people grew up on, that were served at family suppers, that tell a story, that are typically New England, or that you brought with you from a far away place to New England. We will print one of the recipes in the Food section once a month. To ask any questions, write to Debra Samuels, who is overseeing this project, at recipebox@globe.com. To discuss your recipes, click here.
