Critics' Table! (Spoiler alert)

Posted by Devra First June 11, 2009 01:01 AM

(Uh oh. Getting sucked in by ads for "NYC Prep." That is not why I'm here!)

The judges are half-horrified Keller used the shower for his pasta. But they don't get his soup. Except Greene. She loved the cinnamon and the crouton.

Schlow's pork is tough. Um, yeah -- he cooked it on a little hot plate! But Greene likes the spicing.

Judges pretty impressed with what the chefs pulled off cooking on hot plates and in microwaves. Me too!

Judges say:

Keller: mi-cuit salmon could have been served in his restaurant. Now they're impressed by shower.

Schlow: Some like homey flavors of soup, but it didn't cook long enough. Pork was tough but spicing delish.

Love: Pulled something out of the hat after all his food froze. I'm pretty impressed at his reaction to that.

Lee: "When I ate the meat the angels sang," says Oseland. He made a good risotto on a hot plate. My comment: Dude, many chefs make a crappy risotto on a stove. Double points!

Is it me or are the judges here kinder to contestants' faces than they are when the chefs leave the room?

Schlow's total: 13.5 stars.

Love's total: 14.5 stars. Oh no! Michael Schlow, pack your knives.

Lee's total: 19 stars. Love, go drink with Schlow. Aw, bromance. They're man-hugging.

Keller: Can he pull it off? Needs 14.5 stars to win. "Articulated pure French technique in very dowdy dorm room," says Oseland. He wins with 20.5 (rock) stars. He's moving on, and Make a Wish gets a $10,000 check in his name.
