Stop in at the Barking Crab (88 Sleeper St., Boston, 617-426-2722, www.barkingcrab.com) for a shared crab cake appetizer: $11. Add tip: $2.
Head over to the Institute of Contemporary Art (100 Northern Ave., Boston, 617-478-3100, www.icaboston.org) via the Boston Harborwalk. Sure, you could walk straight down Northern Avenue to the ICA, but the walk around the Moakley Federal Courthouse and through Fan Pier affords a pretty view of the Boston Harbor. The ICA is free on Thursday evenings from 5 to 9 p.m., thanks to a Target sponsorship. Through Aug. 16, you'll be able to catch the museum's Shepard Fairey exhibit, "Supply and Demand." (Fairey is the street artist behind those red-and-blue Obama posters you've seen everywhere.)
Walk down to Drink, pictured (348 Congress St., Boston, 617-695-1806, www.drinkfortpoint.com). Yes, you could head to the Atlantic Beer Garden or the Seaport Bar & Grille, both a few steps from the ICA, but for a 7-minute walk into Fort Point, you get a cocktail especially made for you. (There's no drink list here; you tell the mixologist what you're in the mood for, and he or she crafts the libation accordingly.) $20. Add tip: $2.
