What makes a good mustache? "Color and texture and not looking like something you just hit with your car," says freelance writer Jeff Cutler, who admits he's having some trouble this year with his 'stache. "I have about 15 days to get it into shape," he says. Cutler counts Mark Twain as his mustache idol "because his mustache is elegant and substantial. He also has some of the characteristics and skills that I'd like to emulate as a writer." And though the presence of upper lip hair can produce a giggle from some, "it's all for awareness," Cutler says. "It's to let people know that [men's health issues] warrant attention."
