For women, there is no "follicular involvement" during Movember, says Karen Costa, who works at Web analytics company Compete.com. Instead, "it's strictly moral support." Though she may not be able to grow her own 'stache, this Mo Sister — the name given to female Movember participants — is a cheerleader for the cause. While women get breast cancer awareness month, Costa says, it's important to be a champion for men's health, which can often be overlooked. "It's really fun to watch the progression," she adds. "It's like puberty all over again. You have to love a man who's growing a mustache to raise awareness for men's health."
