
Roth's out, Hagar's in
It was around this time that you either drove 55 or you didn't. So to speak, you were a fan of Sammy Hagar, Van Halen's replacement for singer David Lee Roth, or you weren't. The band's seventh record and first with Hagar, "5150" went on become a #1 record on the Billboard charts -- something the band hadn't previously been able to do. These titans of rock were doing something right: Their next three records with Hagar also went on to hit #1.
