Here's the dirt

It's the time of year when thoughts turn to garbage and gardening (well our thoughts do, anyway). If you'd like to learn to use the former to do the latter, "Gardeners Gathering" has all the dirt. The folks from Boston Natural Areas Network invite gardeners of all sorts to attend today's workshops, get some gardening tips, and network with other green-thumbed folks about composting, soil, spring gardening, garden design, native plants, and gardening with kids. Mayor Menino is scheduled to appear at noon to help present the Annual Community Garden Awards. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Free. Northeastern University Curry Student Center, 360 Huntington Ave., Boston. 617-542-7696. bostonnatural.org
