‘Where have all the flowers gone’ has been replaced by ‘where are all the sales going on?’
It was 40 years ago today at Logan Airport that demonstrators gathered with hastily assembled coffins to show how airplane exhaust was killing us. They tossed flowers and sang “Give Earth a Chance,’’ instead of “Give Peace a Chance.’’ In New York City, tony Fifth Avenue was closed to automobiles and turned into a pedestrian thoroughfare for the day.
