Another tilt at windmills for Harvard?
Just because the town of Harvard rejected a plan over the weekend to allow homeowners to build windmills doesn't mean the issue is going away.
"Clearly we're going to pursue this,'' Mary Essary, chairwoman of the town's Planning Board, told the Globe.
She said the Planning Board would send a new proposal to the town this fall or next spring. Residents at Saturday's annual town meeting split about evenly on the new idea. The measure had needed two-thirds' support to take effect.
Some residents thought the windmills would spoil the views. "Windmills are not natural and pristine," agreed resident Dan Jones. He gathered applause when he added that houses are not pristine either. "It's a critical step toward a sustainable future," he concluded.
