A five-year goal for sustainability

Posted by David Beard, Boston.com Staff April 14, 2008 03:08 PM

Jim Rogers, the electricity company chairman who delivered a passionate plea for sustainability over the weekend at the MIT Energy Conference, has followed up with his own company's duties.

Today, his Duke Energy Co. unveiled a five-year plan to improve its environmental stewardship, including a goal to cut its carbon emissions by half by 2030. Here's the entire report.

On Saturday, Rogers, 60, told the Cambridge conference he will be judged by his grandchildren on what he does to improve the environment. He said his electricity company, which relies overwhelmingly on coal and nuclear power, is the nation's third biggest emitter of carbon dioxide.
