A boost to Mass. solar industry

Posted by David Beard, Globe Staff June 18, 2008 09:11 PM

Solar panel producer Evergreen Solar Inc. says it signed two contracts totalling $600 million, bringing its contractual backlog to $1.7 billion.

The work will be done in Evergreen's new Devens facility starting next month.

The Marlborough-based company is expanding heavily in Massachusetts and is often cited as a model of the state's growing alternative energy base. Its latest contracts, according to this story from The Associated Press, are with White River Junction, Vt.-based groSolar and Germany's Wagner & Co Solartechnik GmbH, which designs and installs solar electric and hot water systems.
