Blame climate change for ... kidney stones?
Climate change is blamed for melting permafrost, disappearing species ... but kidney stones?
That's an assertion from a group of Texas urologists in a study released yesterday by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
This report from The Guardian quoted the study as saying the increased risk could lead to as much as $1.3 billion in increased annual medical bills by 2050.
One model showed rising temperatures a big factor in raising rates along the East Coast as well as Sunbelt states.
Researchers said previous relocations to warmer climes brought along rapid increases in kidney stone risk. One example cited in this report from Medical News Today: military deployments to the Middle East.
Of course, the preventative technique remains the same -- drink plenty of water.

Wow! I lived in the tropics for 60 years and I knew only about 3 persons with kidney stones. High temperatures (global warming??) cannot be blamed for kidney stones. Diet, drinking inadequate amounts of liquids, and body chemistry are more to blame. Some of us just produce more oxalates, uric acid etc., than others.
And please, there is absolutely no evidence produced as yet to confirm global warming. Climate fluctuation is natural and demonstrates all the symptoms that the IPCC and others on the warming bandwaggon propose as evidence for global warming. And there is a natural cyclic pattern to climate change; we are in a warm phase and this will move to a cool phase in the next 20 or 30 years.
I gotta go now because as a sufferer with kidney stones, I must now plan to cope with global warming, not so!

This assertion is so idiotic, its laughable.
Over 31,000 meteorological scientists have declared that man made greenhouse gasses have no significant impact on the earth's temperature and that recent spikes in temperature are directly related to a lull in sunspot activity.
So why does most of the main stream media ignore this info and, instead, continue to disseminate this "sky is falling" junk science spewed out by the elite-funded "scientists"? Its all about scaring us into giving government more control over each and every aspect of our lives. The stronger government becomes, the more useful a tool it is to the mega multinational corporations, billionaire elite, and foreign lobbyists who "own" almost every elected official in Washington.
Time to wake up, America! Don't be a sheep being led to slaughter. Educate yourself because knowledge is power.

Ya climate change... it's bad. I hear it also causes acne, war in the Middle East and celebrities to drop out of rehab. Too bad we can't go back to the good old days when the global climate.... never changed.
'After this, therefore because of this..." I thought we all learned about that logical fallacy in high school, but apparently they don't teach that in Boston, (or wherever that supposed Guardian article comes from. Can't tell, since what looks like a hyperlink to it, isn't. Great tactic for making irresponsible statements and pointing the finger elsewhere, btw. )
LMAO!!!
Got kidney stones? Global warming!
Wife left you? Global warming!
Car got a flat tire? Global warming!
Tripped going down the stairs? Global warming!
A year where the Cubs might actually win the World Series? Has to be global warming!
Thinking you are an idiot for believing over-hyped, unproven media jibberish? Must be...yes you guessed it...GLOBAL WARMING!
This is very interesting, however it's direct conflict with my long standing theory that it is kidney stones that are the cause of global warming. I'll have to review the data and findings of the study before I even begin to believe otherwise.
This is idiotic. What else are we going to blame on global warming? diabetes? They're already trying to blame blackhawk down in global warming. What next? Now kidney stones!
Since the global warming advocates can't seem to get traction on the "world is going to end scenarios" because of global warming they think if they just keep adding more things global warming effects we will all jump on this crazy train and give up our money to fight this terror. It does not matter the mean temperature of the earth is actually lower this year. It is absolutely arrogant of anyone to think humans can have such an affect on climate. Millions of years before any humans were on earth there were tremendous hot and cold periods, flooding, drought, earthquakes, hurricanes and severe weather. Who do the global warming nut jobs want to blame for all of those occurrences? I
They really need to list why they think causes this. I would suspect it's because people may not increase their water intake to needed levels in the hotter temperatures which doesn't necessarily make it global warmings fault. It seems to be the thing to blame for everything these days.
Anecdotal evidence-idiocy [Robin]. This is why conservatives shouldn't be given the keys to the ecological car. It's only a problem when it's in their backyard, or it affects their bank account. Then it is a national disaster.
I like how people with zero scientific background who don't even bother to read the scientific literature and look at the data think that they are qualified to judge the results.
