Study: the 11 greenest colleges

Colleges on the Princeton Review's Green Honor Roll and some of their eco-friendly initiatives:

Arizona State University -- Opened the nation's first School of Sustainability, with classes on such problems as air quality and water shortages.
Bates College: Recently started a Zipcar program and bike co-operative.
Binghamton University (N.Y.) -- Has an 182-acre nature preserve and several research centers focused on the environment.
College of the Atlantic (Maine): Opening dorms in August that have composting toilets and thermal controls.
Emory University -- Has more square feet of LEED-certified green buildings than any other US campus.
Georgia Institute of Technology -- Running a biodiesel pilot program with used cooking oil from dining services.
Harvard University: Holds an annual competition to honor the most Earth-friendly residence hall for recycling and reducing energy and water consumption.
University of New Hampshire: Became the first school in the nation to use landfill methane gas as its prime energy source.
University of Oregon -- Twenty-two percent of energy used on campus comes from carbon-neutral sources.
University of Washington -- Has a recycling rate of 44 percent.
Yale University: Generates 50 percent of the power for a dormitory using solar panels.
