Talk about wild weather

Posted by David Beard, Boston.com Staff July 24, 2008 12:43 PM

Heavy rain collapsing a home in New Hampshire. Funnel clouds reported off the Rhode Island coast. Daily drenches of tropical magniture, and we're not even talking Dolly.

What do you make of the wild weather we're having?

  1. Why can't people clean out the storm drains in front of their homes? A lot of the street flooding could be avoided if people took the time and just cleaned the debris that gathers on the storm drains....

  1. We are in the midst of some crazy storms here in NH. The first wave this morning flooded my basement (never had any water damage before). The drain in front of our house services my street and another street and it completely filled sending gallons of water into our yard. At one point we had over 2 feet of water trhoughout our entire yard.

The second wave of storms right now are bringing hevay rain, wind and loud thunder. As it was approaching, the sky to the west was black as night. So dark, my 3 year old son asked if it was bed time!

Off to tear up the carpeting in the basment :(

  1. In case folks are worried about the various camps in in New Hampshire - I have a report from T. L. Storer Scout Reservation from the Boston Minuteman Council:

We have been touch with T.L. Storer Scout Reservation and everyone at camp is fine at this time. They experienced heavy rain, strong, gusty winds and some lightning but no injuries or damage is being reported at this time.

News 9 has reported that Route 107 in Deerfield near the Epsom border was completely blocked by five to 10 fallen trees so getting to and from camp at this time is difficult. We have also heard reports that Route 28 and Route 4 have also had fallen trees and damage. If you are planning on going to the camp in the next 24 hours please check with local authorities for road closures.

  1. "At least its not on the weekend?" Gee, how compassionate. One person dead, others houses ruined and your worried about your weekend.
