The 100 miles-per-gallon Prius

Posted by David Beard, Globe Staff December 15, 2008 06:03 PM

Globe reporter Erin Ailworth got a ride in the state's new green showboat -- a 100 mph Toyota Prius.

What make this one different? A specially retrofitted battery in the truck, made by a Bay State company to boot.

Check out the video and Erin's Green Meter rating.

While we're on the topic, Cliff Atiyeh has a point about Prius acceleration, though I thought it was something that only plagued earlier models. Here's his post.

  1. 100mph, or 100mpg?

  1. Not really 100 mpg! That is only if you count the electricity as free...you have to burn oil or gas to make electricity. I remember seeing it as dropping down to ~ 50 mpg if you include the electricity in gas equivalent units, but don't quote me.
