Why so many announcements on the T?

Posted by David Beard, Globe Staff January 5, 2009 02:50 PM

Ever get sick of the same lineup and frequency of announcements on the MBTA? One reader asked Dan Grabauskas what's up in the T general manager's weekly Q&A with the Metro Boston newspaper.

His answer? "The frequency of our announcements was increased in November immediately after federal authorities identified a possible threat against the New York City subway system. Given the circumstances, it was only prudent.''

Nonetheless, Grabauskas promised to space and stagger the announcements more evenly. The Q&A also asks about Green Line service. To ask Grabauskas a question yourself for the weekly feature, e-mail Metro City Editor Matt Killorin here.

  1. There's an error in paragraph two, it should read "his non-answer."
