I always think of maple syrup as a Vermont product, but it turns out, it's made right in my backyard. Groundwork Somerville and friends are celebrating "Maple Month" by organizing their annual Maple Syrup Boil Down on Saturday, March 13th from 10-4 at the Somerville Community Growing Center (22 Vinal Ave).

Volunteers tap local maple trees throughout February, and the syrup is boiled down over two days (Friday with local schoolchildren and Saturday with community members). Can't make it this weekend? Find a demonstration or sugar house in your area.
