Letters to ...
A couple of letters came through my email today, on different green topics.
Earlier today, 11 governors, including Massachusets Governor Deval Patrick, joined together today in opposing measures in the American Clean Energy Leadership Act that they think would affect how power transmission lines are approved and sited, having an "adverse impact on a variety of important energy policy goals."
The governors, from all six New England states and five others, wrote a letter expressing their concern to senators Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell. Among their worries is that the build-out of the national transmission corridor will be too costly and will "harm regional efforts to promote local renewable energy."
The bill is summarized on the Library of Congress website. And here is the letter written by the governors: Govs Transmission Ltr 7-12-10.pdf.
And just a few minutes ago, I got this letter from the Biomass Power Association, taking state officials to task on how they handled a recent decision to limit what kind of wood-burning facilities can get 'green' credits: 2010 07 09 REC to Guidice.pdf
Globe reporter Beth Daley wrote about that decision earlier this month.
In its letter, the Biomass Power Association questions the study the state used to make its decision, saying the study has "fundamental flaws," including a limited review the different fuels used in the industry.
