Take the planet out to lunch on Earth Day this Friday

The Nature Conservancy is celebrating spring – and the earth – by holding its first global picnic for the planet Friday.
The pop-up picnic – from noon at 2 p.m. on Boston Common rain or shine – is designed to highlight how Bostonians can keep nature in their lives.
“This Earth Day, we want to encourage families to just get out and enjoy nature, and to think about all the ways in which nature affects our daily lives,” said Steve Long, of The Nature Conservancy in Massachusetts.
If you can’t make it to Boston, people are are invited to picnic wherever they happen to be spending Earth Day, and to share their photos, recipes and green living tips via the Conservancy’s new Massachusetts Facebook page, here.
Later on Friday, the Liberty Hotel at 215 Charles Street will be holding an Earth Day happy hour from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for green-minded Bostonians to mingle.
