On my playlist this morning: Beat it, by Michael Jackson
What I did: 45 minute run, Weights (15 minutes)

While I was on vacation I broke out a fitness DVD I have owned since college. It is a 45 minute workout that mixes cardio with strength and has a yoga-like stretching sequence after the main workout is done.

Whenever I break out this fitness routine, I wind up looking like I just swam laps in a pool while dressed I'd wind up so soaked with sweat. This workout has always been one of the toughest in my home-gym arsenal.

Since I hadn't used the workout in a while (because I've slowly morphed into a gym-rat) I figured I would be in for a brutal routine.

But this time, even 30 minutes in, I wasn't feeling like I wanted to die (as I had felt in the past.) This time I got to the end and hit the "repeat" button and did the DVD again.

This simple action shocked me.

I knew I was getting stronger and that my stamina has been improving. But this little victory, that act of hitting "repeat" really made my day.

That same day I weighed myself and found that I've lost 20 pounds since the birth of my son a year and a half ago. Slow going, sure, but at least the scale is moving in the right direction.

How are you doing when it comes to achieving your fitness/weight loss goals?
