Keeping workout boredom at bay
OK, so by now you know I plan to run a bunch of 5Ks and 10Ks this year, I'm signed up to run a half-marathon, and I've got loads of other goals I want to accomplish.
I wake up early every day to exercise. I'm running. I'm eating well. I'm fitting in my #plankADay. I'm consuming coffee at near in-human levels (joking ... mostly).
Everything is going according to my nice, neat, and tidy plan.
And I'm bored as heck.
Which means that, once again, it's time to change up what I'm doing. When I get bored, I get lazy. So, in order to prevent that I'm going to take control of that nagging ho-hum feeling.
To do that, I've enlisted help.
Enter Craig. Craig, among other things, is a trainer at Beantown Bootcamp. He's just the kind of person a girl who worries about getting lazy needs: He doesn't take no for an answer, is a straight-talker who doesn't sugarcoat anything, and he's kind of hardcore (in fact, I know I will get an e-mail shortly after this post goes up asking why I used the words "kind of" in front of the word hardcore). There's no "kind of" about it: He's hardcore.
He's also become a good friend. And, if you know anything about me at all after reading the drivel I post here each week, it's that this girl likes to suffer through any tough task with friends who push her to excel at whatever it is she's trying to do.
Good thing I have tough, smart, friends who are willing to put up with me.
Against my better judgement, I set a date for Craig to run me through the ringer next week. If the blog is empty Monday or you don't hear me on RadioBDC with my main man, Henry Santoro (Tuesday this week), Craig got the best of me.
At least it won't be boring ...
What do you do to combat boredom with your workout?
