Black Cat 10 mile race on the books.
The race marked the longest one I've done since my half-marathon , so I was quite nervous.

A year ago it took me 2 hours and 53 minutes to run 13.1 miles. Saturday, it took me 188.8.131.52 to run 10.
The 10 miles I ran Saturday were very, very different from the 13.1 I ran a year ago. I know every race is different, and that I've got a lot more miles under my belt now than I did then. But I was really surprised at how different this long race felt compared to that half.
Last time all I could think was: "Just don't walk"
This race: "You know your body can do this, just don't let your head stop you."
Last time: "I don't want to be slow, I don't want to have people pass me."
This time: "Go out, enjoy this race as your first after a long winter training season, who cares what your time is. Just. Run."
That last point is what I think really made the difference for me. I have no one to "beat" but myself. I have good runs and bad runs, but each makes me stronger with every stride.
I realized today running doesn't judge. Running doesn't care if you are fast or slow, or if you beat your last time. It only cares that you keep moving forward.
The course was pretty, and the race itself was a very well-organized event. Plus, I met up with some blog followers (and fellow tweeters) as well as a buddy from Lose It (who paired with the Get Moving section last year to bring you the Hometown Wellness Showdown), so that made the day even better.
Honestly I don't have much to say about this race other than the fact that I felt awesome about it. So, I'll just leave you with some photos and a video or two in order to see for yourself why I love running: I just plain have fun doing it.
