February 21, 2008

Maybe it's the gray winter days or seasonal affective disorder or psychic damage incurred by the writers’ strike, but at this point, late in February, anything in a cheery citrus palette makes us feel like dancing. And doing a little shopping for new kitchen gear in springy shades of lime, orange, and lemon? Well, it's almost as good as a stroll through an orange grove. These days, home goods retailers are brimming with brights - whether it's CB2's cool botanical textiles in white and lime, or butter yellow mixing bowls from Williams-Sonoma, or citrus kitchen towels from Sur la Table. While a quick punch of color may help you see your kitchen in a sunny new light, it may also motivate you to spend a bit of time whipping up something healthy - instead of ordering takeout for the second time this week. Because let's face it, warmer days are right around the corner. Why not celebrate? - HAYLEY KAUFMAN
