Centennial deals at Filene's Basement -- gift cards Thursday

Though its 100th birthday was earlier this year, Filene's Basement is now getting around to celebrating its centennial with a series of special offers. Tomorrow, Saturday, and Oct. 31st, the first 100 people through the door will receive a gift card worth $10, and from tomorrow until Nov. 1st, all men's suits will be $50-$200 off. From Nov. 1st until Nov. 7th, stores will be collecting entries to win a gift card worth $1,909 (the store's founding year). Check www.filenesbasement.com for other centennial deals. Yes, T.J. Maxx has a new store in Newton. And yes, its runway section has $1,300 Ralph Lauren dresses. But for a small treat for ourselves (or, since that time is quickly approaching, a stocking stuffer), we liked the Braciano laminated wallets (near the runway section, toward the front of the store),
