Design Boston — the annual 3-day event at the Boston Design Center — is an industry staple. And while we're in the thick of closing our next issue (so please forgive the delay), we stepped away from our keyboards long enough to attend Design Trends 2012, the inaugural talk given by BDC vice president and general manager Julie Rogowski. Of all the new and exciting trends she covered, the one that still has us talking is... taupe.
Why are we so intrigued with the taupe trend? It could be because we weren't quiet sure what exactly taupe is. So (unsurprisingly), we looked it up and found this: "gray with a tinge of brown." First reaction: that sounds terrible.

But in actuality, it's gorgeous. And Julie put it best: “Ask a hundred designers to describe taupe, and you’ll get a 100 different answers. It’s a really basic foundation color. It comes in grays and browns. But it’s an incredibly versatile option that fits into most color schemes.’’ We couldn't agree more, especially after thumbing through some of our issues and finding truly wonderful, warm spaces where taupe takes charge.
