Salon Recap: Green & Personal

I think it’s safe to say that every one of the attendees at last night’s Design Salon presented by DNE and hosted by Circle Furniture at its Cambridge location left the event quite a bit wiser with regard to keeping the home “Green & Personal.” The speakers were among the best in the local industry and proved it with their engaging and informative presentations.
First up was Doug Hanna of S + H Construction, who took us through a sort of “custom home building: 101” exploration of how to have the best possible experience when working with design professionals. Like in most relationships, it seems the key is communication.
Next we heard from the always entertaining Eliza Tan of Eliza Tan Interiors who surely instills the utmost confidence in her clients. Those lucky enough to work with her must appreciate her notion that in order to truly customize the home, clients must guide the design professionals they consult.
Jerry Arcari of Landry & Arcari had the crowd awe-struck in his explanation of the ultimate sustainability: a rug that has made it through almost 100 years, its original dye process, an additional dyeing, and then the removal of the second pigment to restore it to its original state all while maintaining an absolutely stunning sheen. I don’t think there was a person present who didn’t want to take the rug home.
Our gracious hosts, Circle Furniture, offered up the expertise of Linda McGuire to end the Salon. A company that presents a truly impressive and extensive line of quality furniture in addition to endless green options, arguably the most impressive aspect of Circle’s offerings is that many of the products are manufactured right here in New England.
