Why do children love magic? We asked Mike Bent of “Mike Bent’s AbraKidabra!”

“Because they believe in it, they get caught up in the moment. I’ve had kids say to me: ‘I know how you did that.’ And I’m thinking: ‘Uh oh... busted!’ And then they give their answer—‘magic.’ Kids love magic, but they don’t like being fooled,” said Bent. “During the show, I’m one of them—I’m as surprised as the kids when the magic moments happen in my show. The key to a great show is to have the kids laughing from the beginning to the end—comedy with strong, fun magic—that’s what kids love, that’s what makes the perfect party.”

His parties range from $300 to $400 and he offers two shows for two different age groups— 4- to 8-year-olds and a show that teaches 9- to 14-year-olds the secrets of magic.
