Here at Zootoo, we believe that all adoptable pets are special. But some animals in need of forever homes are extra special, with qualities that make them seem “less adoptable” than others at first glance.
To spotlight the special needs of these pets and help them overcome obstacles to getting adopted, Petfinder.com celebrates Adopt-a-Less-Adoptable-Pet Week. This year’s event is taking place from Sept. 17 through Sept. 23.
All too often, the qualities that make these pets less adoptable are as simple as advanced age, behavioral issues—such as a need to be an only pet, or intense shyness—or medical needs such as being FIV+. However, these pets are ready to be loving companions to the right human.
Whether or not you’re considering adopting a pet at the moment, you can still get involved and help spread the word about “less adoptable” pets.
Here are three easy ways to help:
If you know of someone who is interested in adopting a pet, send them to Petfinder’s gallery of less adoptable pets, compiled from submissions made by Petfinder-member shelters and rescue groups across the country.
Visit Petfinder.com’s Facebook page for the latest news on adoptable pets.
Contact a shelter or rescue group near you to find out if they have any pets who are having a hard time finding a home—and ask what you can do to help.
