High standards.
The first group out consists of 26 hound breeds, dogs that hunt by sight or scent. Look for the Plott, a new dog this year. When hound judge Ralph Lemcke looks at and runs his hands over the dog in front of him, he is comparing it to the standard, a written description of that breed's ideal specimen. In the case of the Irish wolfhound, the standard says the dog should be "very muscular, strong though gracefully built; movements easy and active."
