Many of you are away from your computers to observe Martin Luther King Day, so today we'll feature Love Letters spam. That's what I call the letters that are too nonsensical, theoretical, short, off-topic, or confusing to run. (Some are really just spam.)

In the case of the last letter, I realized after reading it twice that it’s actually a Taylor Swift song. I have no idea whether the letter writer had a legitimate problem or whether she was just trying to give life to her favorite pop hit. Regardless, feel free to comment.

We have special things happening for the rest of the week because Wednesday is our 5th anniversary. If you're on the waiting list for tomorrow night’s event, please remember that there's room to just hang at the bar. And there are still discounted tickets (I think) to Wednesday's Love Letters night with the Huntington Theatre Company. Please join and hang out after the show.

And please enjoy my drawings and vote on your favorite Love Letters.

Why is "love" popularized as a commodity? IE it is just another "trade good" on the shelf of life to be acquired and consumed until bored then on to shopping for another. For me, Love is what makes us human and to trivialize it via media.. focus groups.. even religions... cannot be what our "creator" intended. If love were allowed to permeate our very beings, there would not be the chaos we live under.. our cultural-social constructs (our civil religion) would not be based upon "I'm OK, you're not, so have a nice day someplace else" .. and two could unite as one and live happily ever after. Love is what makes us human... too little to go around it seems. I am rejected on the grounds of "wrong religion" seems absurd.. God is love.. and I have it... to give freely.

I’m in love with my best friend and neighbor. He currently has a girlfriend that mistreats him (They have been on and off since high school). I’m also friends with him and talk to him on a daily basis. The other night he got into a fight with her over something he said, but she doesn’t get his sense of humor like I do. Me and him also listen to the same type of music that she doesn’t like. The only problem is that she is a model. She is very attractive, and I’m the girl next door type. She would rather wear High heels and a short skirt, while I would rather wear Jeans and a T-shirt. In high school she was the cheer captain while I was in the bleachers with the band. The other day we had a moment. We were walking along the streets and made our way to the park, We sat down on a park bench and had an effortless conversation. He looked into my eyes with the kind of confidence and love that I know he has for me. That same night his girlfriend picked another fight with him. I was there to catch him, waiting for him at his back door. I drove to his house in the middle of the night, I made him laugh when he wanted to cry, I played his favorite songs, and we talked about his dreams. So Meredith the question that I have is how do I make him see that HE BELONGS WITH ME? That girlfriend of his is no good and only causes him pain. I will show him the love and support that he needs.
