Dear Inspired,

My fiance and I grew up out of state, but we've lived in Boston for 13+ years. We're holding our wedding at a barn about an hour outside the city. My girlfriend recently asked if we were providing transport to and from the city. This hadn't even occurred to me and is not accounted for in our budget. How can I afford this? Or respond when this comes up again?

Help, Lost In Transportation.

Dear Lost in Transportation,

First, please allow me a quick rant. Wedding attendees, this one's for you: It's a probably a good idea to keep your comments, opinions and suggested how-to's OUT of your friends' wedding plans. It's none of your business, and surely we can all find a way to get along with our big-kid pants on. For the transport issue at hand, designate a driver, call a cab. Ok! I feel better now.

Back to the question at hand, LIT, not to fret, it is by no means your duty as hosts to provide transport. It is a nice gesture to notify guests of a few hotels nearby your venue so they can rest after a night of inspired debauchery. If there are no local hotels, check for homes that can be rented by groups of friends and family. VRBO is a fabulous website for such a search.

Best of luck, and keep in touch!
