5. Limit your guests' options.
You can't please everyone — well, not on a budget anyway. For dinner, serve the same dish to everyone. Don't have an open bar, either, when you can just serve beer and wine. Or if you're really working on a shoestring budget, make people pay for their own drinks. You can skip the champagne toast, too, and just toast with whatever anyone happens to be drinking at the time.
