May 26: Cardinal Sean P. O'Malley ordains seven men to the priesthood at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. The archdiocese's new priests were Fathers Robert J. Blaney, Christopher J. Casey, Andreas R. Davison, Martin G. Dzengeleski, Daniel J. Kennedy, Charles Madi Okin, and Matthew J. Westcott. On January 27, 2008, Father Kennedy, 34, died of a heart attack while visiting with family in Connecticut. The athletic priest, who had run nine marathons and was training for the 2008 Boston Marathon, died of an undiagnosed heart defect.
