Pope Benedict XVI delivered his traditional blessing to the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican on Christmas Day, from the velvet-draped loggia of St. Peter's Basilica.
The pontiff appealed to political leaders around the globe to find the "wisdom and courage'' to end bloody conflicts in Darfur, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Congo.
