11:17 | Boston.com Chat Producer: We just reached Santa by short wave radio and he says he's looking forward to this chat. He's in Indonesia right now... |
11:18 | Boston.com Chat Producer: He'll be online at 11:30, so please keep your questions coming... If you're a child, please include your age if possible. |
11:31 | Santa Claus: Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas everyone! This is Santa and I'm doing this chat from my sleigh (the elves build me a new one this year). I'm really happy to be here. If I disappear every now and then, it's only because I have a few stops to make! |
11:32 | [Comment From sam] santaaaa, where are you my 6 year old cousin is going crazy with excitement, and in turn is wondering where you are? |
11:33 | Santa Claus: Merry Christmas Sam, it's wonderful to hear from you. Please tell your cousin that I am currently in Thailand right now (that the other side of the world). I started in the South Pacific and making my way west. |
11:34 | [Comment From Kira] Hi santa |
11:34 | Santa Claus: Hello Kira. Merry Christmas to you. |
11:34 | [Comment From Tim] All I want for Christmas is for the economy to turn around, and to get a good job. |
11:35 | Santa Claus: I hear you Tim. I wish I had a job for you in my Christmas bag, but my thoughts will be with you and your family this holiday season. |
11:35 | [Comment From Sandy D] How do you keep your beard so white? |
11:36 | Santa Claus: Ho, ho, ho - great question Sandy. When you're as old as I am, you don't need any help keeping your beard white. However, I'll let you in on a little secret - North Pole snow is also quite magical, and will turn your hair white after an extended period of time there. |
11:36 | [Comment From Michael] Hi Santa, |
11:36 | [Comment From Michael] What's your favourite place in the world to visit? :) |
11:38 | Santa Claus: Merry Christmas to you Michael. To me, the world is a wonderful place filled with beautiful people and terrific children. Of course, I am partial to the North Pole, but I can honestly say that I find all countries and regions unique and quite special. |
11:38 | [Comment From Courtney Ann and Carissa] Santa, are we on the naughty or nice list? We can't wait to see you and hope that the rain doesn't delay you coming to our house. Have a safe trip and WE LOVE YOU and Mrs. Claus.. Oops and the elves to. |
11:40 | Santa Claus: Hello Courtney Ann and Carissa - I checked my list before I left and you are both on the nice list. Remember though that it's important to behave through Christmas Eve, especially when your parents tell you to go to bed tonight! And don't worry, the rain won't delay me. I have Rudolph's nose lighting my way and not even a terrible blizzard could delay me! I will give your regards to Mrs. Claus and the elves! Merry Christmas to you. |
11:40 | [Comment From Zachary Kelly age 9] Hi santa i can't wait to see what you brought for me and my sisters. And comet is my favorite reindeer and I am leaving them carotts. Thank you for all the presents from all the other years... |
11:45 | Santa Claus: Thank you very much! Of course, I love all my reindeer, but Comet is quite a character. This year, he is helping to lead the sleigh. He is right behind Rudolph - and he loves carrots (by the way, reindeer also like grass). I also appreciate the thank you - it's so nice there are so many polite boys and girls across the world! |
11:45 | [Comment From Izel and Karole] I am Izel and I am 8 years old. I am Karole and I am 8 years old also. What time will you be in Florida? |
11:45 | [Comment From Izel and Karole] This is Izel. Will you remember that I will be at my Grandma's also. Will you deliver some of my presents there? |
11:48 | Santa Claus: Hello Izel and Karole - I was just thinking of both of you! The reindeer and I should be in Florida around midnight - but it'll be important that you are sound asleep when i arrive. By the way, I just checked and the elves have already added a note about you being at grandma's house - I won't forget. Merry Christmas to you both! |
11:48 | [Comment From Ivan Wiljanen Age:11] Am I on the Naughty or Nice list |
11:49 | Santa Claus: Hello Ivan! Do not fear - I will be stopping by tonight! Merry Christmas to you! And make sure you go to bed early this evening.... |
11:50 | [Comment From Ashley Kelly age 5] Merry Christmas Santa..I can't wait to see what you have made for me.. Rudolf is my favorite and I am leaving him a carott. Thank you... |
11:50 | [Comment From Ashley Kelly age 5] Merry christmas I am so happy that it is christmas eve. I will leave you some cookies and egg nog and carotts for the reindeer. I can't wait to see what you have made for me.. Thank you and I love you ... |
11:53 | Santa Claus: And a very Merry Christmas to you! I will let Rudolph know what you said - he loves to hear from good boys and girls. I'm quite excited about your presents this year - I know the elves think very highly of you. And thank you so much for the egg nog and cookies (I can never have enough!). The reindeer also love carrots - they eat a lot of them as we travel the world (which burns a lot of calories!). Sweet dreams tonight and if you hear my sleigh on your roof, just go back to sleep! |
11:53 | [Comment From Michael 7] Santa, Am I on the good list? |
11:54 | Santa Claus: You made the list this year Michael. Merry Christmas, and make sure you continue to mind your parents! Good job. |
11:54 | [Comment From Bernie Madoff] How's the economy affecting your work this year? |
11:57 | Santa Claus: Greetings Bernie - it's wonderful to hear from you. Well, it is a difficult time for many and our elves have been extra busy trying to make toys for lots of needy girls and boys. However, it's not all up to me though. It's important that you and others keep the spirit of Christmas and the season in your heart and give to those who truly need it. When you hear that Salvation Army bell ring, or you have a chance to help out a food shelter, or homeless shelter, please do so. Have a Merry Christmas... |
11:57 | [Comment From liam, brianna and Nick] Santa, what time do you think you will be in MA?Would you use rudolf |
11:59 | Santa Claus: Merry Christmas Liam, Brianna and Nick! I just love Massachusetts. With the snow on the ground, it reminds me a lot of the North Pole right now! I should be in your lovely state around midnight, but I could be earlier so it's important to go to bed on time. Remember, that I don't arrive until you are sound asleep. The reindeer are moving quickly today so for the first time since 1947 I'm ahead of schedule! And yes, Rudolph is lighting my way nicely! |
12:00 | [Comment From Courtney] Am I on the naughty or nice list? |
12:01 | Santa Claus: Ho, ho, ho! You made the nice list this year Courtney. Keep up the good work. By the way, I have noticed that you keep getting nicer every year... Merry Christmas. |
12:01 | [Comment From izel] Did you get my list? |
12:02 | Santa Claus: I know exactly what you want this year Izel - I'm all set. Merry Christmas! |
12:02 | [Comment From Maria santos] Hi Santa, Merry Christmas!! |
12:02 | Santa Claus: And a Merry Christmas to you Maria. |
12:03 | [Comment From liam, brianna and Nick] Santa what will you want to eat?l |
12:04 | Santa Claus: Hello again kids. Well, although Mrs. Claus encourages me to watch my weight, Christmas Eve is the one day of the year I truly indulge. I am most partial to chocolate chip cookies and milk, but quite frankly, I enjoy any kind of treat (just don't tell Mrs. Claus if I finish the plate!). |
12:04 | [Comment From Karole] how are your reindeers? |
12:05 | Santa Claus: Hello Karole - they are doing a wonderful job this year. The sleigh is quite hard to pull due to all the toys I must deliver but the reindeer are moving almost effortlessly. I will let them know you asked for them. |
12:05 | [Comment From Moira] Santa, I would really like it if you could bring e a musical snow globe. Merry Christmas |
12:07 | Santa Claus: It's wonderful to see you in this chat Moiria - I was hoping you would be here. The elves and I try to get every child at least a toy or two from their list, but part of the magic of Christmas is the surprise of toys that you don't expect. I won't tell you what's in my bag for you this year - but I can guarantee you'll enjoy Christmas. Say hello to your family for me. |
12:08 | [Comment From ashley] I am 5. Merry Christmas.. I have been very good and can't wait to see what you have brought for me.. I am leaving outy some cookies and milk and carotts for Rudolph..Thank you |
12:08 | Santa Claus: Thank you so much Ashley. Have a very Merry Christmas! |
12:08 | [Comment From Eddie M] Hi Santa - how old are you? |
12:10 | Santa Claus: Ho, ho, ho! Hello Eddie! To be honest with you, I stopped counting many, many years ago. I have been around a very long time and will continue on forever as long as people hold the spirit of Christmas in their hearts, and souls - and continue to believe in me and our mission to make the holiday extra special for children around the world. |
12:11 | [Comment From Cristina] Hi Santa Claus. I am 3 years old and I am a tough little girl for my mommy. Do you think I am on the nice list? I really want the Mommy and Me potty training baby? What do you think. I can't wait for Christmas. I love you. |
12:13 | Santa Claus: Merry Christmas to you Cristina! You are much too young to be on a naughty list - and every 3 year old can be a little "tough" at times. Do not worry, I already have your presents packed nicely in my bag and I will arrive at your house tonight. I won't tell you what you got - but you'll be happy! Sweet dreams! |
12:13 | [Comment From liam, brianna and Nick] I will not be at my grandmas this cristmis ok! |
12:14 | Santa Claus: Very good! I will make not of it! Merry Christmas! |

12:15 | [Comment From Tyler Cody & Justin] Hi Santa, this is Justin, I love you |
12:15 | Santa Claus: I love you too Justin - and all the boys and girls of the world. Merry Christmas. |
12:16 | [Comment From Alexcia] santa, have i been good where are u right know? |
12:17 | Santa Claus: Hello Alexcia - it is wonderful to hear from you this holiday. I am currently delivering presents in Russia. And don't worry, you made the nice list this year. I look forward to you continuing to be nice in 2009! |
12:18 | [Comment From Todd] Will you be leaving any new horses here at the farm? |
12:18 | [Comment From Taylor 9] Am I on your nice list? |
12:20 | Santa Claus: Hi Todd, usually I don't deliver large animals (they don't fit in the bag very well) but on occasion, I do have a surprise or two. Of course I can't tell you what I got you this year or it wouldn't be surprised. Please know though that it comes from the heart. Merry Christmas. |
12:20 | Santa Claus: Yes Taylor, you made it! Keep up the good work! |
12:22 | Santa Claus: Hello kids: I see a lot of you are asking me if you (or your brothers and sisters) made the naughty or nice list. I just checked and it looks like you're all on the nice list this year - though there's certainly some room for improvement in a few cases! Please keep up the good work! |
12:24 | [Comment From Will] What time will U bes in Massachusetts |
12:25 | Santa Claus: Hello Will, right now I'm planning on about midnight but the reindeer are moving fast and I'm ahead of schedule - so it'll be important that kids are in bed on time tonight! Merry Christmas. |
12:25 | [Comment From kYLIE C] hOW DO YOU GET THE REINDEER TO FLY |
12:26 | Santa Claus: Hello Kylie! I was hoping you would be here. Well, that's a long story - let's just say a little magic combined with the spirit of love and Christmas are all the reindeer need to get airborne and pull a heavy sleigh (and a heavy Santa too!). Merry Christmas to you. |
12:27 | [Comment From Jennifer D.] Dear Santa: I really hope that you will go to Haiti and to the Dominican Republic this year. There are a lot of people there who really need help, and they need food, clothes, and shelter. There is A LOT of good food there, and I'm sure all of the families there will make you and your reindeer some great stuff. |
12:28 | Santa Claus: Merry Christmas Jennifer. I would never leave out Haiti or the Dominican Republic! Yes, there is sadness, but there is also beauty there - both in the land and people. I never leave children who believe in me behind! |
12:29 | [Comment From Tami] Hi Santa! I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to you!!! I can't wait for you to come to my house tonight. I'm so excited!!! I'm leaving you cookies and milk of course. What should I leave for the reindeers? |
12:31 | Santa Claus: Merry Christmas Tami! You've been very good this year and it makes me so pleased. I never get enough cookies and milk - so thank you in advance! As I remember it, the milk was nice and cold when I had some at your home last year! The reindeer are partial to carrots. If you don't have any though or can't make it to the store, Blitzen goes crazy over a good slice of bread. |
12:32 | [Comment From Daddy Pierce] Can you bring my kids a hamster. My daughter Emma wants to name him Risky. She promises to take care of it. |
12:33 | Santa Claus: Hello Daddy Pierce - I can't remember off the top of my head if there is a hamster or not, but I know there are some wonderful toys this year in my bag. |
12:34 | [Comment From Jimmy] Santa, I wanted to make sure Rudolph is leading the sleigh for you tonite. My brother and I are going to leave cookies and milk out for you and plenty of carrots for the reindeer but wanted to make sure Rudolph will be with you ? Merry Christmas |
12:35 | Santa Claus: Merry Christmas Jimmy - Yes, Rudolph is leading the sleigh (his nose is as bright as ever!). Thank you so much for the cookies and milk - they are my favorite! |
12:35 | [Comment From Kevy] Santa, my 2 little girls Tami & Donna want to know, what kind of a snack you want left for you tonight. We are doing some baking today. They have been very good. |
12:37 | Santa Claus: Well Kevy - I'm quite partial to chocolate chip cookies and cold milk - though I like almost any kind of cookie there is! Please tell Tami and Donna that I have some special gifts this year for them and to please go to bed on time, when you tell them so. It's important that they be sound asleep before I arrive! Merry Christmas to you and your family! |
12:37 | [Comment From Katie] Dear Santa Clause, How do you get your sleigh to fly? Merry Christmas!! |
12:39 | Santa Claus: Merry Christmas Katie: Well, my sleigh wouldn't fly without the hard work and dedication of my nine reindeer (that includes Rudolph of course). They are wonderful, magical animals. My sleigh though gets some extra push through Christmas magic, and the love sent my way from children around the world. One last note: My sleigh always travels faster and carries more when children are polite, respectful, and loving to their family and friends. |
12:40 | [Comment From taylor 9] has rudolph ever goten sick? LOVE YOU! |
12:42 | Santa Claus: Merry Christmas Taylor - I'm looking forward to stopping by your house tonight - I'm going to leave a surpirse or two beneath the tree this year! Yes, sometime my reindeer do catch colds (the North Pole is very, very cold). But they never get really sick since our elves are both experts at making toys, and caring for sick animals. Mrs. Claus and I take very good care of the reindeer - they and the elves are like our children - and we love them all dearly. |
12:42 | [Comment From nicholas sclafani age 9] How should I get more people to believe in you? |
12:45 | Santa Claus: Merry Christmas Nicholas - what a wondeful and thoughtful question - I'm not surprised that it would come from a good boy like you. ll I can say is that Santa should live in your heart like the spirit of Christmas does. Santa belongs to the good boys and girls of the world who believe in me, and I very much believe in them. As long as you hold Santa in your heart - than that is what matters most to me. |
12:47 | Santa Claus: Well boys and girls, there are more questions here than I can answer in an entire evening (it's evening where I am now in Nepal)! Please remember that I should be at your houses around midnight but to go to bed on time and to listen to your moms, dads, or caretakers when they tell you to go to bed! ... |
12:49 | Santa Claus: Please remember to keep the spirit of Christmas alive in your hearts now and throughout the year - and to remember those in need this holiday season. I look forward to watching your progress next year as you continue to be nice, or nicer! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! |
