CONTEST RULES
Red Sox Internship Contest brought to you by The Boston Globe and Boston.com (the "Promotion") - 2008 Official Rules and Regulations.

AMENDMENT TO THE RULES: Winners will not be notified until July 28. We apologize for any inconvenience.

1. HOW IT WORKS: There is no purchase necessary to enter. Contest entrants must submit three items: Essay, Video, and Resume. Entrants will not be considered unless all three items are submitted.
  1. Essay: Entrants must submit a maximum of 1,000-word essay, explaining why he or she should be picked for the Internship with the Red Sox. Topics are unrestricted and can be about anything, as long as it provides the reason he or she thinks they should be picked for this internship.
  2. Video: Entrants must create an original video clip of not shorter than fifteen (15) seconds or longer than two (2) minutes describing how The Boston Globe and/or Boston.com enhances their Red Sox experience. Topics are unrestricted and can depict a person, place, thing, idea, or whatever else the entrant feels how The Boston Globe and/or Boston.com enhance their Red Sox experience. Promotion is not confined by city limits - submission themes and subjects may encompass greater Boston or any Massachusetts suburb.
  3. Resume: Entrants must submit a resume of past experiences to be considered when evaluating the entrant. The Resume can be no longer than one (1) page in length.
2. SUBMISSION DATES: Submissions will be accepted beginning Monday, June 16, 2008 at 12:01 a.m. local time, Boston, MA and ending Monday, June 30, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. local time, Boston, MA (the "Promotion Period"). One winner will be selected by a panel of The Boston Globe, Boston.com and Red Sox employees and the winner will be notified by Friday, July 18, 2008. Selection of winners is at the sole discretion of The Boston Globe, Boston.com and the Red Sox. Winners may be notified by phone or email and will be required to satisfactorily complete an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability and, where legal, Publicity Release. Sponsors may extend the submission dates of the contest at any time, and will notify the general public of any such extension, on http://www.redsox.com/intern, prior to the expiration of the Promotion Period.

3. WHO MAY APPLY: Entrants must be legal residents of one of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and age eighteen (18) or older. The following are not eligible to participate or win a prize: employees, contractors, directors, and officers of The Boston Globe, Boston.com, or the Red Sox organization (The Boston Globe, Boston.com and the Red Sox collectively, the "Sponsors"), the MLB Entities and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliated companies, distributors, licensees, web design, advertising, fulfillment, judging and Promotion agencies involved in the administration, development, fulfillment and execution of this Promotion, and any and all other companies associated with the Contest (collectively, the "Promotion Parties"), and the immediate family members of each (spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, and spouse or "step" of each) and those living in their same households (those persons whether related or not who live in the same residence for at least three months during the twelve-month period preceding the start date of the Promotion). The MLB Entities shall mean the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball, its Bureaus, Committees, Subcommittees and Councils, MLB Advanced Media, L.P. (MLBAM or MLB.com), Major League Baseball Enterprises, Inc., Major League Baseball Properties, Inc. (doing business in its own name and as Major League Baseball Productions and Major League Baseball International), the Major League Baseball Clubs, Tickets.com, Inc., SportsOnEarth, LLC and each of their subsidiaries or affiliated entities, any entity which, now or in the future, controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with the Major League Baseball Clubs or the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball, and the directors, officers, employees and agents of the above entities.

4. HOW TO SUBMIT: Entrants may go to http://www.redsox.com/intern and register to enter. They will follow on-screen instructions to upload the essay, the video and the resume.

5. VIDEO CLIP/ESSAY/RESUME REQUIREMENTS: THERE IS A LIMIT OF ONE ENTRY PER PERSON PER ENTRY PERIOD. Entries must be completed in English. Video Clips/Essay/Resume submitted online must be the original work of the submitter, may not have been previously published, may not have won previous awards, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity. All entrants must use the same email address to email and/or upload all submission materials throughout the entry process.

Content cannot be sexually explicit or suggestive, violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group, profane or pornographic, or contain nudity; Content cannot include or promote alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the aforementioned), any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous, or any particular political agenda or message; Content cannot be obscene or offensive or endorse any form of hate or hate group; Content cannot defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about Sponsors, the MLB Entities or other products, people or companies; Content cannot contain trademarks, logos or trade dress (such as distinctive packaging or building exteriors/interiors) owned by others (including any Major League Baseball mark except (i) the BOSTON RED SOX word mark or logo, and/or (ii) the REDSOX.COM word mark or logo), or advertise or promote any brand or product of any kind, without permission, or contain any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, personal names, email addresses or street addresses; Content cannot contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media including, without limitation Major League Baseball footage) without permission; Content cannot contain materials embodying the names, likenesses, photographs, or other indicia identifying any person, living or dead, without permission; Content cannot communicate messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or goodwill to which Sponsors wish to associate; and Content cannot depict and cannot itself be in violation of any law or otherwise.

VIDEO SUBMISSION ENTRIES For the video clips, If the video contains any material or elements that are not owned by the submitter and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, the submitter is responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the clip, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the use and exhibition of submission by Sponsors in the manner set forth in these terms, including, without limitation, name and likeness permissions from any person who appears in or is identifiable in the clip. If any identifiable person appearing in the video is under the age of majority in his/her state of residence, the parent or legal guardian is required to provide permission. Sponsors reserves the right to request proof of these permissions in a form acceptable to Sponsors from any submitter at any time. By submitting a video, submitter warrants and represents that he/she and any persons appearing or who are identifiable in the video consent to its posting on Boston.com and any other use at Sponsors sole discretion.

Entries containing prohibited or inappropriate content as determined by the Sponsors, in their sole discretion, will not be eligible for entry. Entries must be between 15 seconds and 2 minutes in length. Videos over 2 minutes may be removed and disregarded at the sole discretion of the Sponsors.

By submitting a video, submitter hereby grants permission (without limiting any other rights granted hereunder) for his/her video to be posted on Boston.com for viewing by visitors to the web site and any other use at Sponsors discretion. Sponsors are not responsible for any unauthorized third party copy or use of any video. Sponsors do not guarantee the posting of any video.
  • Videos should be short: no more than two minutes, 100MB max.
  • Videos should be clean: we have a diverse readership, so please no profanities, sexual content, violence, drinking, drugs, etc.
  • We accept the following video formats: Flash video (.flv), Windows Media Video (.wmv), QuickTime (.mov) or AVI.
Sponsors makes the final determination as to which Entries are eligible. Submission of an Entry grants Sponsors, the MLB Entities and each of their respective agents the unconditional right to publish, use, adapt, edit and/or modify such Entry in any way, in any and all media, without limitation, and without consideration to the Entrant, whether or not such Entry is selected as a winning Entry. Entries not following these requirements will be considered void and will not be considered in this Promotion.

Sponsors and the MLB Entities will not be responsible for lost, late, forged, mass-reproduced or mass-transmitted, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete or illegible mail or entries and such entries are void; telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures or difficulties, errors or failures in transmission or reception and/or any condition caused by events which may cause the contest to be disrupted or corrupted. By entering, you warrant that your submission is original and does not infringe the rights of any third party and you agree that submissions will become property of the Sponsors and will not be returned.

Sponsors reserves the right to change the entry requirements for the contest at any point during the contest and will not penalize contest entrants in any way if they have already submitted materials. If requirements do change, submissions under earlier requirements will still be eligible.

6. SELECTION OF WINNERS: One winner will be chosen by the Sponsors, and will start their internship with the Red Sox organization at an agreed upon time.

The winner will be selected based on the following criteria:
  • Best portrayal of how The Boston Globe and/or Boston.com enhances your Red Sox experience.
  • Most creative and best reason for why you should get the internship.
  • Best qualifications from past work experience, school experience, or interests for the internship.
  • Creativity.
  • Conveys enthusiasm and appreciation for the Red Sox organization.
  • Appropriate for public consumption.
7. DETAILS OF INTERNSHIP: Winner of the contest will receive a one-month internship with the Red Sox organization based in Boston, MA. All entrants must be willing to live in Boston, MA or surrounding vicinity at their own expense, in order to participate in the internship. The winner of the internship will receive the following listing of benefits which include, but are not limited to:
  • Access to behind-the-scenes action of the Red Sox organization
  • Access to every home game
  • Interact with all levels of Sox organization
  • Work with-in the Fenway Park Executive Offices
  • Opportunity to work with multiple departments within the Red Sox organization (one (1) week in each area)
The responsibilities and rules of the internship, as listed above, will be decided solely by the Red Sox Organization, and are subject to change at any time.

There will be no compensation or school/university credit given to the winner for the internship. The winner will start their internship at an agreed upon time between the winner and the Red Sox organization, but no later than September 1. The final selection of winners is the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsors.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: Prize winners are solely responsible for any taxes on their prize, and Grand Prize Winners will receive an IRS Form 1099 for the MSRP of the prize. The Grand Prize is non-transferable. By participating, Entrants agree to these Official Rules and Sponsor's Privacy Policy (available at Boston.com) which are final and binding in all respects and applied at Sponsors' sole discretion. Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded. Winner will be notified by email and will be required to complete, sign, notarize and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release, and, where lawful, a Publicity Release within five (5) days of attempted notification or else the Grand Prize may be forfeited. If the potential winner fails to sign and return the Affidavit/Release within the required time period, or if he/she is otherwise ineligible to receive the prize, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected. Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Sponsors, the MLB Entities and each of their respective designees to use winner's name, hometown, likeness, statements and other personally identifiable information for promotional, advertising and marketing purposes in any media now known or hereafter devised, throughout the world, in perpetuity, without additional prize, incentive, consideration, consent or review; and upon request, the winner will provide written consent to such use. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

If for any reason the Promotion is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Promotion, Sponsors reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who is responsible or who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, modify or terminate the Promotion or any part of the Promotion. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE PROMOTION MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSORS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.This Promotion is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with venue in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, and all claims must be resolved in the federal or state courts located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE: No liability or responsibility is assumed by Sponsors or Promotion Parties resulting from any user's participation in or attempt to participate in the Promotion or ability or inability to upload or download any information in connection with participating in the Promotion. No responsibility or liability is assumed by the Sponsors or Promotion Parties for technical problems or technical malfunction arising in connection with any of the following occurrences which may affect the operation of the Promotion: hardware or software errors; faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or Internet connectivity or other online communication problems; errors or limitations of any Internet service providers, servers, hosts or providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any email transmissions to be sent or received; lost, late, delayed or intercepted email transmissions; inaccessibility of the Web Site in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestion on the Internet or the Web Site; unauthorized human or non-human intervention of the operation of the Promotion, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, worms; or destruction of any aspect of the Promotion, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an email account used in connection with the Promotion. Sponsors and Promotion Parties are not responsible for any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on the Web Site. Use of Web Site is at user's own risk. Sponsors and the Promotion Parties are not responsible for any personal injury or property damage or losses of any kind which may be sustained to user's or any other person's computer equipment resulting from participation in the Promotion, use of the Web Site or the download of any information from the Web Site. By participating in the Promotion, Entrant agrees to release and hold Sponsors and Promotion Parties harmless from any and all claims, damages or liabilities arising from or relating to such Entrant's participation in the Promotion. By accepting a prize in the Promotion, winners agree that the Sponsors and Promotion Parties shall not be liable for any damage, loss or injury resulting from, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, participation in the Promotion or from the receipt, acceptance or use of any prize or any travel or activity related to the receipt or use of any Prize.
