How should Boston commemorate the one-year anniversary of the September 11 attacks?
Officials in New York City announced today they will commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a ceremony at Ground Zero at which former Mayor Giuliani will begin a reading of the victims' names. Several Broadway plays will go dark and many of the companies that lost employees in the attacks are holding private memorial services. What should Boston do to mark the Sept. 11 anniversary? Should workers get time off to attend services? What sorts of ceremonies do you think Boston should hold?

Bostonians should also commemorate 9/11 by reading off the victims in the planes that left from Logan and that were from this city, perhaps in front of our own WTC.

A ceremony could be held in Government Center. Workers in Boston should get some time off to observe the vigil.... many of us have lost loved ones.

Not to be heartless, but we should just remember what that happened in our own way and move on with our lives. All the ceremonies do is bring back the terror, which was the point of the attack. All the tears and bad memories brought back to the surface is what the terroists wanted. Lets just move on.

Boston should hire better security at their airport.

As is being by encouraged by officials in Washington and NYC, Boston needs to hold sunset gathering and candlelight vigil. I would suggest holding this event around the reflecting pool at the Christian Science Center. I believe that this sight is much more beautiful than City Hall Plaza and would sever as an appropriate backdrop. A "candle" for each of the 9/11 victims could be lit and placed around the reflecting pool. Live music, appropriate to the occasion, should also be a part of the ceremony.

I don't think that any ceremony could ever do justice to such an event in all of our lives; however I am sure that like New York, the entire country will once again come together and pay tribute to all who lost their lives and to all that helped pick up the pieces in the aftermath.

The anniversary should be considered a national day of mourning. Memorial services should take place to remember, the people that lost their lives and the folks that tried to rescue those that were hurt

I think we should have a group of people walk the route from Logan to the WTC site as a fundraiser for the citizens of Massachusetts who lost loved ones in the attack. They will continue to need financial and emotional support in the years to come. Personally, September 11th taught me to seize the moment, to always part with loving words, and to do my absolute best every day, because we do not know when our time will come. This year, I will invite my friends and family over to a special dinner of Thanksgiving, and tell them how much I love and care for them.

I am not sure but something extremely sigificant since Logan Airport and the city of Boston were ultimately responcible for two of the hijacked planes. This was possible due to their pathetic security of a major international airport

I believe All media venues should take a 60 second moment of silence at the same time of the first attack on America. If individuals that were close to those that were lost in the attacks, then yes, they should be given the right to be dismissed to attend services. The Mayor/Govenor and other officials should hold a public moment of silence.
