Mansfield elementary school evacuated after suspicious white substance found
A Mansfield elementary school was evacuated today after an envelope that may have contained hazardous materials was discovered, officials said.
A female employee of Robinson Elementary School on East Street opened an envelope containing a powdery substance, Police Chief Arthur O’Neill said in a statement.
Authorities were contacted shortly before 11 a.m.
The employee came in contact with the material and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Students are not in any danger, the school said in a statement on their website. The students were evacuated to the Jordan/Jackson Elementary School, Qualters Middle School, and Mansfield High School.
Mansfield fire and police are investigating the incident with the FBI.
