Bystanders rescue young boy from Chatham Bars Inn pool

A young child was pulled from the bottom of a pool at the Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham Saturday afternoon, according to the Chatham Fire Department.

The 4-year-old boy was rescued from the pool by bystanders who performed CPR before fire department personnel arrived on scene around 2 p.m., said Nick Ruggiere, a Chatham firefighter.

The boy was transported to Cape Cod Hospital, and then moved to Children’s Hospital Boston, he said.

The condition of the boy was not available.

Ruggiere was unsure if a lifeguard was on duty at the Chatham Bars Inn pool and the hotel’s executive office was unavailable for comment.
