Person killed on I-95 in Boxford identified as 31-year-old Lynn man; death not considered suspicious
The person who was fatally injured when he exited a moving vehicle on Interstate 95 in Boxford late Tuesday night was a 31-year-old Lynn man, prosecutors said.
Essex County prosecutors identified the man as Derin S. McWilliams.
McWilliams’s death is not considered suspicious, said Carrie Kimball Monahan, spokeswoman for Essex District District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.
“Based on interviews with witnesses it was determined that foul play is not suspected,’’ she said.
According to an earlier statement issued by State Police, McWilliams was riding in a car being driven northbound on I-95 around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. When the car was in Boxford and near Exit 52, McWilliams exited the vehicle.
At the time, the car was being driven by McWilliams’s wife. There were also two children in the car, but Kimball Monahan declined to identify their relationship to McWilliams due to privacy concerns for the children.
McWilliams’s wife and children were interviewed by State Police after the incident.
A formal cause of death will be determined by the state medical examiner’s office.
