DiMasi moved to North Carolina prison medical center
Former Massachusetts House speaker Salvatore F. Dimasi, who the Globe reported was diagnosed with cancer in his tongue and lymph nodes last month, has been moved from Kentucky to a prison medical center in North Carolina, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
DiMasi was listed on the bureau’s website Wednesday night as an inmate at the Federal Medical Center in the Butner Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, North Carolina.
The Globe reported on May 19 that DiMasi might be moved to the center, which specializes in cancer treatment. Once one of the state’s most powerful politicians, DiMasi is serving an eight-year sentence for corruption charges and is scheduled to be released in November 2018.
