A 20-year-old man was killed this afternoon in a crash involving a motorcycle, a car, and a sport utility vehicle on the Massachusetts Avenue bridge, a major link between Boston and Cambridge, State Police said.
The man, who was riding the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened near the Boston side of the bridge at 2:30 p.m, State Police said.
Police did not immediately release the man’s name. The male operator of the SUV is being examined for emotional distress, State Police said in a statement.
A damaged motorcycle could be seen lying on its side, while another vehicle also was stopped, with heavy damage, about 20 yards away, at about 3 p.m.
Traffic both ways was stopped, but pedestrians were still being allowed to walk across one side of the bridge.
State Police crime scene and crash reconstruction experts were responding to assist in the investigation.
