Two state troopers were assaulted during a traffic stop in Andover on Friday night, State Police said.
The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Interstate 93 south, just south of Dascom Road, State Police spokesman David Procopio said in a statement.
Two unidentified male suspects, ages 22 and 20, were taken into custody and brought to the State Police barracks in Andover. They are facing charges of resisting arrest, assault on police officers, possession of Class C and E drugs, and illegal possession of fireworks, Procopio said.
The troopers were treated at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, one for an eye injury and the other for a shoulder injury, and released.
