The fire was reported at 12:38 p.m. at 444 Hyde Park Ave., the fire department said. Firefighters saw flames on the rear porches when they arrived.

The fire was on the second-floor porch and extended to the third-floor porch, then into the attic, the department said.

Six residents were displaced.

Fire officials said the fire was caused by a child with a lighter on the second floor near a porch.

Heat from the fire also melted siding on an adjacent house on Philbrick Street, causing an estimated $25,000 in damage, the department said.
