In wake of crashes, State Police to step up patrols on Route 24
Massachusetts State Police will begin a patrol surge along Route 24 and Interstate 195 in the southeastern part of the state.
State Police spokesman David Procopio said the announcement comes “in the wake of numerous fatal and serious injury crashes in recent months.”
Police have also seen “numerous instances of dangerous and erratic driving on those roads in recent weeks,” he said in an e-mail.
Officials plan to release more details Thursday.
“It is safe to say this will encompass a surge of State Police patrol resources in an area where the statistical data shows it is needed,” Procopio said.Melissa Werthmann can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
