Man accused of assaulting Milton officer arrested
A Medford man accused of injuring a Milton police officer in June was arrested late Tuesday night, State Police said.
Michael Ritson, 31, was arrested in Chelsea after troopers received information on his whereabouts. Ritson was charged with trapping the Milton officer’s fingers in a car door and then driving off.
The officer had pulled over a car in Milton June 19 for a traffic violation when Ritson, a passenger, allegedly pushed the driver out and slammed the door on the officer’s fingers before driving off with her hand still stuck in the door.
The officer managed to free herself. She was treated at a hospital for injuries that included a broken finger.
Ritson was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license Tuesday.Sarah N. Mattero can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
