Woman in Andover woods calls police for help, saying boyfriend bit her

A woman called for help while lost in dense woods early Thursday, telling Andover ­police that her boyfriend ­attacked her after the two had taken drugs.

Amanda Norcia, 20, of ­Everett used her cellphone to call police at 3:15 a.m. and ­reported that she was disoriented from taking LSD and that her boyfriend had bitten her face, said Lieutenant Commander James Hashem.

Tewksbury police and State Police assisted in the search, and the young couple was found an hour later in the woods near Lowell Junction, he said. Officers found heroin on both people.

“Both of them appeared to be under the influence of some sort of drug,” Hashem said.

The area is a very wooded section of conservation land, Hashem said.

Officers found Brendan ­Gibson, 24, of North ­Andover, naked and covered in his own feces. He was uncooperative when officers tried to take him into custody, Hashem said.

Officers used pepper spray on the man, but Hashem said that it had no effect and that ­officers had to use a Taser on him twice to get him under control.

Gibson was taken to ­Lawrence General Hospital and has been released. He was to be arraigned Friday .

Gibson faces charges of ­domestic assault and battery, assault, mayhem, possession of a Class A substance with intent to distribute, resisting arrest, and trespassing.

Norcia was treated for ­minor injuries at the scene, Hashem said. She faces charges of possession of a Class A substance and trespassing.
