Boston police commissioner: Harlem Street triple slaying was gang-related

Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis said this morning that the slaying of three women on Sunday on Harlem Street in Dorchester was gang-related.

He said at least one of the women fatally shot in a car was “targeted.” He didn’t elaborate further.

Davis made brief remarks to the media before entering a meeting of clergy leaders.

The slaying of the three women — a fourth woman was also shot but survived — was part of a surge of violence that has rocked the city. A total of five people were killed between Sunday and Wednesday.

Clergy leaders announced at the meeting that they were offering a $2,000 reward for information that would help solve any of the five slayings.

Davis said Wednesday that police were making progress in the Harlem Street investigation and had “significant leads.”
